Administering Kerio Products

Minimum Qualifications

While it is possible to install Kerio products and run the initial setup with minimal IT experience, administering the products, changing some of the more complex settings and deploying in an existing IT infrastructure requires certain skills. Kerio recommends that in order to successfully set up and maintain Kerio products, you should possess the following skills:

Kerio Control minimum qualifications:

  1. Basic computer knowledge
  2. Knowledge of the Operating System, to which the product is to be installed (Windows, Linux)
  3. Basic understanding of TCP/IP (addresses and address classes, subnet masks, ports, cascade networks, NAT, etc.)

Kerio Connect minimum qualifications:

  1. Basic computer knowledge
  2. Knowledge of the Operating System to be installed on (Windows, Linux, Mac OS)
  3. Basic understanding of the ports used for mail (ports 25, 110, 143)
  4. Basic understanding of the mail client programs that will be used (eg. MS Outlook, Apple Mail, Outlook Express, Mozilla Thunderbird, etc.)

Kerio Operator minimum qualifications:

  1. Basic computer knowledge
  2. Basic understanding of TCP/IP (addresses, subnet masks, ports)
  3. Basic understanding of Voice over IP technology and the SIP protocol
  4. Basic understanding of the SIP phones (HW phones or softphones) you are going to use with Operator

These are minimum requirements only. More complex configurations of Kerio products might require a true IT professional or private contractor to configure and maintain. Kerio Technical support is not a replacement for such a service.
